Morning
Start your day with a coffee at Communal Coffee - a lovely little spot in a vintage trailer right on Fern Street. And you can’t go wrong with their lavender honey latte. If you have a sweet tooth, stop by Secret Sister Bakery for one of their famous sticky buns or a slice of sourdough. *Both are a short walk from The Laurel Loft.
Midday
From there, head just 10 minutes north to explore Balboa Park, a San Diego must. Wander through the lush gardens and maybe pop into a few museums - our favorite is the Natural History Museum. And don’t miss the San Diego Zoo, one of the best in the world. You can easily spend several hours there, so wear comfy shoes!
Lunch
While in Balboa Park, grab a bite at Panama 66, a casual café nestled in the museum sculpture garden.
Evening
Come back to South Park and treat yourself to dinner at Il Posto, a cozy Italian eatery on Fern Street. End your evening with a local beer at Fall Brewing Company or Fernside - both offer a great neighborhood vibe. And if you need a sweet treat swing by Mutual Friend for some ice cream.
Morning
Grab a pour-over or cold brew at Seven Seas Roasting Co. to kick off your beach day. Then pack your towel, sunscreen, and a book and head north to Windansea Beach in La Jolla. It’s a local favorite with a relaxed atmosphere and beautiful rock formations.
Lunch
There are some great seafood spots nearby, or keep it casual with a picnic on the beach. Either way, take your time enjoying the sun and ocean breeze.
Afternoon
After your beach time, cruise south toward Sunset Cliffs Natural Park. Take a scenic walk along the cliffs and grab a front-row spot to watch the sun dip into the Pacific—it’s one of the most magical views in the city.
Evening
If you're up for dinner on the way back, OB Noodle House Bar 1502 in Ocean Beach (located on Niagara Street) is one of our favorite local restaurants - their peanut butter whiskey shot pair with one of their Pho dishes is the perfect combination.
Morning
Start your day at Big Kitchen Cafe for a hearty, no-frills breakfast (their breakfast potatoes are legendary).
Midday
Make your way downtown and hop on the Coronado Ferry from Broadway Pier or the Convention Center. It's a quick ride across the bay and offers incredible skyline views of San Diego. Once you arrive, stroll the Ferry Landing, do a little shopping, or just enjoy the waterfront views.
Afternoon
Catch a quick bus or rideshare to the Hotel del Coronado - this iconic beachfront hotel is perfect for a stroll through history. Relax on the sand, grab a drink at the bar, or explore the charming streets of Coronado Village.
Evening
Head back to the mainland via ferry, and for your final dinner, try somewhere new in South Park or North Park - Buona Forchetta or Kindred are great options. If you’re still up for it, wind down with a nightcap at a neighborhood bar or take one last evening stroll around the block.
